Government Science Study Program Faculty of Social Sciences UMY Holds Thesis Exams.

The Government Science Study Program at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisipol) of the University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) held a thesis exam on 11-12 July 2019 at the UMY Government Science Laboratory. This thesis exam was attended by 24 final level students.
The thesis aims for students to be able to compose and write a scientific work, according to their field of science. Students who are able to write a thesis are considered capable of combining their knowledge and skills in understanding, analyzing, describing, and explaining problems related to the scientific field that they take. Thesis is a requirement to get a bachelor status (S1).
After completing the thesis preparation process students will carry out a thesis exam, specifically the exam is intended to encourage students to understand the work that has been compiled, review and account for it in front of the supervisor.
“When we do research that is actually automated we can also explain what we will explain. One of the preparations, one of which is mental, the data as a thesis supporter and what the points must be delivered before entering the thesis courtroom, “said Muhammad Iqbal Firmanyah, one of the thesis exam participants.
Furthermore, Muhammad Eko Atmojo, S.IP., M.IP as Secretary of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Political Sciences Study Program UMY added that the thesis exam is one of the requirements of the students before the graduation. Through the exam, students are given the opportunity to explain the results of the study and will then get input from the thesis examiners according to the research topic.
In addition to the thesis exam as a graduation requirement, UMM Faculty of Social Sciences Study Program students are also obliged to publish the results of their research in the journal. This is so that scientific work can be used for the development of science according to the research topic. That was similar to what Sakir, S.IP., M.IP, as the Coordinator of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Political Sciences of UMY said, “students must publish scientific papers in journals. This is aimed at making the scientific papers useful for the development of science relevant to the topic of research, “he said. (fhm)
