At the 2018 students orientation event, New Students of Department of Government Affairs and Administration UMY, Dr. phil. Ridho Al-Hamdi summarized several reasons that students should be proud to be students of Department of Government Affairs and Administration UMY. Considering that Department of Government Affairs and Administration UMY had been accredited 3 times in succession from BAN-PT, Department of Government Affairs and Administration UMY became an Program study especially in Department of Government Affairs and Administration in Indonesia which first opened an International class with an introductory lecture using English. In addition, Department of Government Affairs and Administration UMY has a government journal (Journal Government and Politics) in English which has become a reference for many foreign academics.
Student orientation on 2018 Department of Government Affairs and Administration UMY was attended by Dr. Muchammad Zaenuri, M.Si (Chair of the Department of Government Affairs and Administration UMY), Muhammad Eko Atmojo, S.IP., M.IP. (Secretary of Department of Government Affairs and Administration UMY), Dr. phil. Ridho Al-Hamdi (International Class or IGOV), Sakir, S.IP., M.IP (Coordinator of Department of Government Affairs and Administration UMY Laboratory) and Lecturer in Government Science, UMY.
Opening an event while delivering a speech Dr. Muchammad Zaenuri, M.Si congratulated the student orientation 2018 participants for being valid and graduating as students of collage. Next Dr. Muchammad Zaenuri emphasized that the learning process would be implemented as intensely as possible, later each Academic Supervisor would guide 4 students. On the occasion also Dr. Muchammad Zaenuri, M.Si, introduces lecturers of Government Sciences as well as managers of Government Science Study Programs to new students.
Muhammad Eko Atmojo, S.IP., M.IP. who currently serves as a secretary of the Department of Government Affairs and Administration UMY explains the lecture process in Department of Government Affairs and Administration, in addition to describing the rules and regulations that must be fulfilled as Government Affairs and Administration students also explain the lecture system, lectures and lecturer profiles.
Furthermore Sakir, S.IP., M.IP conveyed the existence of the Government Affairs and Administration Laboratory as a support for the teaching and learning process by providing computer practice, field practice and organizing academic activities in the practical field as an additional theory that has been obtained by students in the classroom.
“Starting at 3 meters, you must have taken the practicum course, the Lab provides various facilities such as discussion rooms, reading rooms, book loans and thesis clinics. If you do not pass the practicum at the Lab, it will certainly be constrained to meet the thesis preparation requirements, “explained by Sakir, S.IP., M.IP.
In the second session of the students orientation 2018 activity with the Talk Show agenda, the speakers were Drs. Bambang M. Yasin (Regent of Dompu Regency), Prof. Dr. Achmad Nurmandi, M.Sc. (Deputy Chancellor for Cooperation and International Affairs, Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta) and David Efendi, S.IP., MA. (Lecturer of Department of Government Affairs and Administration).
The Dompu Regent specifically expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the invitation given by the UMY particularly in Department of Government Affairs and Administration, Drs. Bambang advised that students could study seriously to prepare themselves to become future leaders. In addition, this opportunity was utilized by Drs. H. Bambang to explain his success in implementing good leadership as to change the mindset of the Dompu people in the end to increase the productivity and purchasing power of the people of Dompu Regency. Converting corn farming into the main commodity ready for export and becoming the mainstay of Dompu Regency’s revenue sector.
The Department of Government Affairs and Administration UMY students orientation is an annual program of campus introductory for new students. The first student orientation is on Monday which is called as university student orientation, August 27 2018 (Sportorium UMY) and the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences students orientation on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 (Ground Floor of the Mosque KH. Ahmad Dahlan, UMY).
