IP UMY HELPS THE DEVELOPMENT OF NATURAL BATIK POWDER PRODUCT

(08/28/18) As a manifestation of Tridarma Perguruan Tinggi, several lecturers of Government Science and Management of the Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta carry out community service activities, especially empowering Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM). This empowerment activity is carried out by Dra. Atik Septi Winarsih, M.Sc., Dr. Muchamad Zaenuri, M.Sc., and Drs Asnawi, M.Sil, especially for Batik UMKM with natural dyes in Sleman Regency. This activity is supported by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti) through the multi-year scheme of the Export Product Development Program (PPPE) which lasts for 3 (three) years from 2016 until now.
Several activities have been carried out, including: entrepreneurial management training, management of legal aspects, governance assistance, and introduction of equipment. From some of these activities can be generated in the form of increased understanding and enthusiasm for entrepreneurship for SMEs, it can be realized business legality documents, the arrangement of business plans and the receipt of various equipment to support the production process of natural coloring batik. This community service program is able to increase the entrepreneurial spirit for both partners and some other batik makers of natural dyes. After this assistance program, several MSME partners experienced changes and progress in business, both in terms of production and sales turnover.
Of the various programs that have been implemented, several partners have benefited from introducing products to foreign countries. This program is designed so that partners are able to sell their products to foreign countries and in tourist areas that are visited by many foreign tourists. Through intensive assistance through various promotional activities, several partners can develop and be able to expand the market to various countries in Europe and America.
