Discussing Smart City in Development Planning, IP UMY held a Public Lecture

The Government Affairs and Administration of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of the University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (IP Fisipol UMY) on Saturday (24/11) held a Public Lecture with the theme “Smart City in the Context of Development Planning”.
Public Lecture Activities held at the K.H Building. Ibrahim E.6 5th floor of the Integrated Campus UMY was attended by the Head of Department of Government Affairs and Administration UMY Dr. Muchamad Zaenuri, M.Sc, Secretary of Department of Government Affairs and Administration UMY Muhammad Eko Atmojo, S.IP., M.IP, Coordinator of Laboratory of Government Affairs and Administration UMY Sakir, S.IP., M.IP, and Main Speaker from Deputy Mayor of Yogyakarta Drs. Heroe Poerwadi, MA.
Opened the public lecture this time, Head of theDepartment of Government Affairs and Administration UMY Dr. Muchammad Zaenuri, M.Sc said that the hope of holding this public lecture is that students are able to know how to implement E-Gov-based regional development so that they do not only understand concepts and theories related to development in the region.
A total of 177 Students of Department of Government Affairs and Administration UMY attended the public lecture which was attended by the number two people in Yogyakarta City and was enthusiastically followed.
“The development in the city of Yogyakarta has a sustainable concept and the real proof is that making the city of Yogyakarta comfortable and safe is proven by the many national and international tourists visiting,” Heroe said.
Furthermore, the Deputy Mayor of Yogyakarta added that his exposure in planning development in the city of Yogyakarta must pay attention to sustainable environmental aspects, local wisdom values and minimize problems that occur in the urban sphere.
Urban problems are an urgent matter to be resolved soon, therefore it is necessary to have a smart city concept which is currently becoming the dream of big cities in Indonesia to be implemented. Heroe Poerwadi thinks that the concept of the smart city is a city that is able to manage various resources effectively and efficiently with innovative integration to improve the quality of life for the people of Yogyakarta City.
The city of Yogyakarta is one of the regions that has implemented the smart city concept. “At present, the city of Yogyakarta has implemented various smart city concepts to help solve various problems that exist. One application is the smart living concept where this concept provides easy access to educational services, “Heroe added.
In closing the General Lecture of the Deputy Mayor of Yogyakarta, he added that there was a need for a strategic program. To support the city of Yogyakarta to become a smart city, in the development of the current digital era a roadmap is needed so that urban problems can be resolved in an integrated manner with the creation of a brilliant step.
