The Garbage Bank, which is opened every two weeks on Sundays, is always crowded with residents to carry waste that has been sorted. The sorted waste is then weighed and recorded by the Waste Bank officer as citizen savings. Residents who have saved at the Waste Bank can immediately see how much garbage is saved, even some people have a balance of more than one million rupiahs. “There are also people who have a new balance of hundreds of thousands. Citizens can also take savings balances if they have urgent needs such as paying for children’s school and others, “said Supardiyono.
The Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) took down the escort team managing the Waste Bank, which is a form of real support related to this pro-people innovation. For example, assistance is made on the website and social media, as well as the institutional strengthening of Waste Banks.
